Unique & rare plants, locally grown in Summerville

What makes Smart Botanic Art different?

We grow our plants right here in the Lowcountry! Big box stores sell the same plants all over the country so their tags are geared towards the nation’s climate average.

“Full Sun” means something very different in Charleston than it does in the Midwest, yet both stores will get the same plant with the same tag. Most local boutique stores get fully grown plants from the grower, and since there are only a handful of growers, they all end up carrying the same plants.

Since we grow our own plants from the start, you’re able to get unique, rare varieties of plants for the same price as big box stores charge you for common varieties. Not only that, but the plants will already be acclimated to Charleston’s climate.

About me

Sydney Schwiebert started Smart Botanic Art to spread her love of plants with Charleston! She has a deep-rooted passion for plants and design and has a decade of experience working with Charleston’s unique climate. She has a degree in horticulture and operates a certified greenhouse in Summerville.

Sydney has designed and maintained several large gardens in Charleston, including Magnolia Gardens, Hampton Park, and Marion Square. She has been the florist for weddings all over the Charleston area, from Kiawah to the Peninsula. She has experience in a wide variety of styles and layouts, but her signature style incorporated live plants as well as cut flowers into her arrangements.

She brings both knowledge and hands-on experience to reflect each client’s personality, lifestyle, and vision, while remaining in harmony with the local environment. Her approach is collaborative and supportive, working closely with clients to offer her expertise to bring their dream garden to life.
