Buzzkill Cuts Installation
A design brief asked for an installation interpreting “a modern American cowboy.”
This floor-to-ceiling installation combines living, low-maintenance plants with dried florals to create a layered, immersive scene. The concept explores material contrast and atmosphere, using natural elements to evoke a sense of place and memory.
The final piece depicts an overgrown western vignette—plants emerging from a weathered whiskey barrel and industrial metal form, set against a scorched tree silhouette with hints of firelight in the background.

Behind the Scenes
The "Mood Board" for the project. The client gave me a lot of freedom on this project. He said he wanted a cool, western vibe and I took it from there
The design rendering I created. I made some adjustments to the design once it was in 3D space, but the final result is fairly close to my original vision
Dried flowers
I arranged the larger elements first, before adding any plants or flowers
The flame is taking shape! Note the pond liner in the red container. Everything is protected from water.
Adding the living plants!
The plants were chosen to be easy to care for and require a minimum amount of maintenance. I will be visiting the space once a month to water everything. It shouldn't need any more than that.
Pond liner and a component from the barrel are used to retain the soil and water. It was then covered with burlap
